The harbour of lights at the Balaton

There is a charming little harbour at Balatonkenese, and its history goes back 30 years. As young brothers, they have spent the majority of their summers here. Back then, when they biked along the shores, in the „wild”, where they collected leaf frogs and infuriated the fishermen, they didn’t know then, that in a matter of a few decades this would be the place to make their dreams come true.
The poplar and ash trees surround the ancient park which is an ideal location for a masterfully designed harbour establishment to be filled with life. But who would have thought, that the realization of the brothers would become a design challenge. It was inevitable that questions and requests were brought to light, which made this project really nice and exciting.
The builders are committed devotees of the Balaton, its preservation, sailing, and to spend time surrounded by friends on the terrace after dinner sipping on wine. It became important, that the Yacht Club and Hotel of Balatonfo should be built in the spirit, where there is no room for authoritative demands or for the use of luxury imitating style and materials.
Clean, traditional style without the use of synthetic materials describes the whole of the establishment. Every detail of the interior delicately reminds us that we are at the Balaton. It is interesting to note, when choosing the color of the facade, they deliberately chose white. Thus ensuring the canvas for natures’ most creative painter the Sun. In the morning, noon and at sundown, different shades of nature paint the walls of the Yacht Club.
The unique sectioning of the building made it possible, that all of the 15 rooms and suites of the hotel have a view of the Balaton! In fact! The concourse of buildings where club life can be enjoyed, they have managed, to make separate from the hotel, so the families looking for relaxation and the groups of friends looking for more active enjoyment can equally find what they are looking for.
The beautiful scenery is enhanced by the softly swaying sailboats, and the symphony is played by the clicking of the sail poles. If beach life becomes a bore, a trip along the shores in the electric boats provided with every room, is guaranteed to make a sailor out of anyone.
And we should also mention, you don’t have to be a sailor to be greeted warmly here.
Either you arrive on water, or on land, we can guarantee a comfortable leisure awaits you.
