The flower shop of Mr. Barna
Mr. Barna and his beautiful daughter Nora came to our 1900 Furniture manufacturing's showroom in the spring of 2007. They wanted to renew their flower shop in Buda. Faced with specific plans and ideas we had to create a harmonious and homely ambiance (through mostly) by the use of solid wood furniture.
There was a specific need for the constant use of water to not be able to damage the furniture. This was solved by the use of special rubber disks, which lifted the furniture 5mm from the ground, so washing the floor was possible at any time. The treatment applied to the solid wood was a lacquer prepared by a boat builder of Dunapataj. Figuring that if this sealant was good enough for the boats on the Danube, Mr. Barna will not be disappointed either. The flower tying table was also a challenge, as it had to be ergonomically designed to hold an already existing marble tabletop (which we all know is worth the price of gold). We had to design a solid wood platform to hold the cut flowers, and a matching cabinet with the purpose of housing the various counter meters on the wall above. And last but not least, a rolling door china cabinet, which seemed to be the simplest piece, since all it was needed for is to house the cash register so the flower tying staff could easily move it back and forth.
With this job, timing was of the essence, as it had to be completed while the store was closed for the summer. All in all we can say about this project is: "Someone who likes flowers cannot be a bad person!" And based on this Mr. Flower is no exception....
