The Jakus'
This young couple from Óbuda, came to our group, 1900 Interior Design Ltd.'s showroom after the renovations on their condominium with a gorgeous view were completed. Based on what they saw, they wanted to take home an interior in the style and ambiance reminiscent of the last century.
The bathroom, master bedroom, the entrance and a 15 year old boy's room had to be furnished and the task was ours.
Once again we were faced with the limitations of small spaces. Which let's be honest, is no small task to figure out when designing or at delivery.
In the entrance we installed a 2 storey tall solid wood shoe cabinet and a solid wood entry wall to balance the ergonomics and the wishes of the owners. The solid wood shoe cabinet was designed to house 24 pairs of shoes. Due to the removable separators, from the lady of the house's formal shoes to the son's touring boots, everything is elegantly "hidden" inside the cabinet. It was also important at the entrance due to the small space, that the traditional and elegant walnut stain could not be used, as it would make the room look even smaller. Therefore we stayed with a honey tone....
Not questioning the importance of the bathroom, the owners requested the elegant look here as well. The furniture for the bathroom was selected from our regular stock pieces in a cherry colour. While custom made laundry holder box above the washing machine, and another piece to hide the boiler was created.
The young parents' bedroom was distinguished as a separate state from the rest of the house. Intimate, functional and Mediterranean elegance! This was the requested route. For this we created a solid wood double bed, multifunctional cabinet and a dresser. Underneath the solid wood bed at the end legs, one for each, rolling bedding storage boxes were designed to slide underneath. The bed frame and the mattress were bought by the owners at a selected store specially for people with back problems. In this small bedroom the cabinet serves as the wardrobe and a place to keep the TV. In this solid wood cabinet there is room for pressed shirts, blouses, suits, drawers for undergarments as well as a small TV. All elements are hidden behind doors. The solid wood dresser holds all valuables, trinkets and the shelves installed above hold all the books guaranteed to bring sleep. As in the entrance, we used a honey colour stain to maintain the wideness of the room.
In the 15 year old son's room it was requested to have a bed, an oversize wardrobe, a smaller cabinet to hold the aquarium tank, a desk and a long "floating" shelf.
In this case we also managed to master the limited space. The bed's side running along the wall received a solid wood panelling to help protect and insulate in the winter time. As in the parents' room, we created a rolling bedding drawer box which can be slid underneath the bed for additional storage of bedding and magazines. When making the solid wood desk we had to keep in mind the computer generations current representative's every need. (large monitor and hardware box) The wardrobe was an easy task, to serve one purpose and that is to hold a lot of clothes. At any price...The floating shelf was needed to house all the models of vehicles. The small cabinet was to hold a 50l aquarium tank and the turtle living in it.
Our motto with this project was: "Good fun, it was a man's job!"
